The Swan Hills Youth Empowerment Society (YES) has been in operation for eleven years. Swan Hills has been fortunate in opening and keeping the Youth Centre open for the teens as many communities in the surrounding areas are just now establishing their own teen centers.
“OUR PURPOSE”
The purpose of the Youth Empowerment Program is to offer the youth of Swan Hills’ alternatives to unhealthy at risk behavior, to empower teens at risk and their parents. To build specific recreation activities and support services which build on strengths."
“PHILOSOPHY”
The Youth Empowerment Program activities are based on the belief that:
- any teen between ages 11-18 or grades 7-12 will be able to access the Youth Empowerment programs provided
- teens living in the community must have community resources available to meet their needs
- There is a need for quality healthy activities to empower the teens with recreational activities and support services.
