Public Works Supervisor  

The successful applicant will possess a valid class 3 driver’s license.

  •  Must have the ability to work within Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Training and experience in excavation, water main, sewer, road, parks, building maintenance in addition to procedural development and procurement skills will be an asset.
  • The candidate accepting this position will be required to report for work 24/7 in emergency situations as determined by the Director of Operations and Infrastructure.
  • Must be a resident of Swan Hills or willing to relocate.

Volunteer Fire Chief

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Volunteer Fire Chief will be responsible for the overall operation of the Swan Hills Fire Department and will contribute to the strategic direction, values and vision of the department.  

To be a successful candidate for this position, you will have the following skills and be able to perform the following:

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all members of Protective Services and outside agencies (Counties, Towns, AHS, AEMA, Law Enforcement, Industry, etc)
  • Ensure adequate records are kept for all emergency responses, training, meetings and activities of the Volunteer Fire Department
  • Ensure all fire apparatus and equipment is well maintained and operational ready at all times
  • Ensure all Town of Swan HIlls policies, guidelines, by-laws and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Work with the Chief Administrative Officer to develop a yearly Volunteer Fire Department operating budget and ensure compliance with the budget
  • Ensure volunteer firefighters have adequate training to meet required Federal, Provincial and Local standards
  • Maintain and oversee all aspects of the Town's FireSmart program

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years leadership within a Fire Department setting.  Excellent communication skills are essential.
